Hi everyone!
We have left Kuala Lumpur! The last day there was pretty good, we managed to get to the museum if national history without getting hit by either a car or a motorcycle, which is more of an accomplishment than you know, since we had to run over a pretty heavily trafficked road to get there. Lots of things, good and bad, can be said about KL, one of them being that it's not really made for walking certain places. Or maybe we're just awful at getting around. Our main goal with the day was to get to KL tower... A mission that failed. We wanted it to be dark so we hung out at a mall while we waited. During this time it once again started to pour. We tried to find an umbrella, but we the one we found that we could actually bring on the rest of the trip was way too expensive. It probably cost like 60 Swedish crowns or $12 but by Malaysian, that is a lot of money. We got really cheap really fast here. The rain eventually stopped, but that doesn't mean we got there. I'll spare you details, since a, it makes me mad to think about, and b, I don't remember them well enough to make a decent story out of it.
This morning we woke up like usual, ate breakfast and then went back to our room, where Filippa chilled out and catcher up with the world around us, and I fell back asleep. Sadly, the peace didn't last, and I wake up from Filippa telling me with horror in her voice that a cyclone is headed for Sydney. Kind of ironic considering we haven't exactly had the flow that we wished for to start this trip with. I kept telling Filippa that things couldn't get worse after us nearly drowning while wandering around the streets of KL, but I guess I needed to be proven wrong. However, some reassuring words and a couple of emails got our hopes back up, and now we're on our way!
I'm writing this on the plane to Sydney, probably about halfway there. Filippa is sleeping peacefully and I've been reading my guidebook, in an attempt to realize that this dream actually is coming true. I keep trying to picture it, but it just ends up in me trying to plan these next few months. Are we going to find jobs? Are we going to like it? Are we going to keep considering each other great traveling partners in a week? So far things have been great, we have lots of fun and manage to either annoy the people around us or make them think we're under the influence of something. We're not, neither of us has had a drop of alcohol so far. But we do have a great sense of humor. For example, right before we went to bed last night, Filippa told me that you shouldn't drink water while laying down, cause then you spill. Sorry folks, this is just the beginning of the inside jokes you will hear about but never understand. Please don't leave us though, we still want your attention!
Speaking of nothing, I've gotten a call from the Swedish police two days in a row now. They've never called me before so that was cool. I also visited an Asian beauty salon, while Filippa looked up the latest fashion in a catalogue. I think she got really inspired! All jokes aside, neither of us left all that different from how we went in.
I've now rambled on for long enough about not enough, but I've also used an entire half hour of this eight hour flight! Time flies when you fly. Although this won't we posted til we land, I'll still say it; next time you hear from us, we will both have fulfilled a dream, and be on Australian soil.
