Well, its week three and it feels like eternity! loving Rochester NY and the gorgeous city! Kimmy and I are in an awesome suite at Staybridge right next to UofR. we have been flying non-stop all week, im logging alot of hours. The best part of my day is running after our flights. Kimmy was a cross country runner so shes been kicking my butt and we have been running through the university and over bridges since our hotel is right on a river, its super fun! i am up to 2.2 miles in under 20 minutes. sad thing is im so tired after a 5.5 hour flight and an hour work out I have been passing out super early.
Before I left Rome, a dear friend of mine from college was passing through so we all went to the movies! Nathan and I were snowboarding buddies in Michigan and we had Jewish Literature together with the greatest professor EMU has to offer haha! anyway, we caught up and compared notes. its so funny to look back and realize we are all grown up! we even swapped "business cards" and showed each other our work credit cards (pathetic I know!) but it was still really neat to see how far we have come.
I couldnt have been happier to leave Rome, it was sooooo boring. the funnest thing we did was visit fort stanwicks before we left. we learned alot about the revolutionary war and the trade routes through the rivers and out to the great lakes. its amazing how much i took our countrys' history for granted all of this time. when we reached rochester, we were weathered out our first full day so manny, kimmy and I went for a four mile walk and found some neat statues in highland park near the university. we also got lost in a HUGE cemetary but found Susan B. Anthonys grave as well as all of the heros from WWI! it was insanely eerie but super humbling to read the pasts of everyone who faught for our freedom.
I think my eye opener of the week was the recent news we got about 4 young pilots from the Florida Institute of Technology who so tragically crashed last night in a seminole, the same type of plane I did my multi engine training in. its so scary becuase I think about it every single day now, I wonder all the time if something will go wrong in MY airplane. Its just a new scary feeling I have been experiencing but its one that Im sure all pilots face and its part of our job. if yoy think about it, i should be scared of car crashes and elevators too! but thats why we train for such scenarios, thats what makes us better pilots. I am always looking for an airport to land at or a good field if i ever lost an engine. this whole experience is truly making me such a safer pilot I feel! I am always scared therefor I am always alert! im ready! bring it on Fate!!!!! I know where Im going if the time comes!!! but for now, I will just enjoy my office in the sky and play it as safe as possible!!
From the sounds of it, we may be heading towards the NY city in a week or two! I want to see Jackie Webb and Ashley Crossmann!!! I love having friends everywhere!! its so nice to just pick up our conversations where we left off how ever long ago! that reminds me! In rochester, I met up with a HIGH SCHOOL friend Ricky Thomas! I couldnt believe it when he contacted me and said he was going to school here at RIT. hes doing awesome! im so proud of him! hes in an a capella group called 8 beat measure and they are becoming quite famous if you ask me! they are super good! definitely recommend googling some of their stuff! "IM PROUD OF YOU RICKY! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! YOU NOW HAVE A VERY BIG FAN!"
so, Que serah serah! I guess this is enough for one week! I love and miss you all dearly!! keep my momma in your prayers! shes really missing Bob, my number one fan who just passed away :(
love always! Aubs!
