This morning I awoke at the first light of the day and I put on my armor for I kew today was the fated day that I had to take a blow from the Green Knight. I hid the lace under my armor and I went to the courtyard where I said my goodbyes. A squire guided me to the Green Chapel but beged me not to go, he would tell no one if I did but I said "I would be a coward and unworthy of knighthood if I fled away now."(97). When I arrived I found the Green Chapel was just a cave and the Green knight was sharpaning a sythe. I went in a little and called out to him so we could get my demise over with. He came out while I prepared to have my head choped off, and on his first swing I flinched and he stoped then called me a coward for it. I prepared myself then on his second swing he stopped and said Now I see your courage is back. I taunted him so he would deliver the blow and on the third swing he drew blood but did not cut off my head. I grabed my sword and shield but he said to me "The first blow and the second that struck you not - these were for promises truly for the one kiss and two kisses that my wife gave you in the castle, and you truly rendered too me."(99). He then said he gave me the wound for failing the third time when I didnt give him the lace to save my life. I was ashamed for having lied to him on the third day but he forgave me and invited me back to his castle, but I turned him down due to having to return to Camelot. He told me he gained his powers from Nimue, the lady of the lake then I took off for home.
