Well, mostly I have done a lot of walking, Berlin is pretty big! Spent the first day walking round Alexanderplatz, which is near my hostel, and then walked down Unter den Linden, the main street all the way to the Brandenburg Gate. Every building is huge and ornate. It's been pretty warm. Got a nice big salami pizza at a nice restaurant. It's good to practice my german even if it's really basic stuff. Got chatting to Eric and we went to find a nightclub...the one we were looking fo turned out to be shut coz of all the football but we asked around til we found one..it was quite expensive but we didn't buy any drinks, jusgt danced! It had a really good selection of music, well known current club stuff and then 80s music, and britpop, all mixed up..hell they even played three lions! I think they changed the words but in the end the song is called three lions, its an english football song! I was happy lol, was good spotting all the brits singing the right words. Got home about 3 so the next day didn't feel like doing much. Sat around/slept for awhile, then went to do laundry. Went looking for a place I found on Google and it was easy to find. just quite a walk. It wasn't the same name as Google had said but it was in the right place and called "schnell und sauber" (fast and clean) so I was like yep that's it! Got that done and then went to McDonalds for dinner. I asked for 2 cheeseburgers and large fries and I suppose it served me right for being grammatically inexact because I got 2 cheeseburgers and 2 large fries! They were the same size as english fries though (and 1.99 euro) so even with 2 it wasn't as many as I got in Amsterdam from one! Yesterday I went to the Egyptian museum, it was only 4 euro with a student card but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped, and they had a strange rule that you couldn't carry your bag on your shoulder..as its too heavy to carry by hand i hung it from my elbow, and for some reason that was ok?! Not very comfy, seemed rather unnecessary. After that I decided to try find this alternative area in my guide, so I walked quite a way...got there and there was nothing at all! So annoying...Was walking along and an ambulance came by fast with the sirens going and this kid, a bit chubby and nerdy looking, just had this look of total disgust on his face! Ah it was funny, I wished I could have got a picture. Walked around back to unter den linden passing checkpoint charlie, the border crossing museum, but as it was 7.50 and i was pretty hot and tired by this time I just got a leaflet and carried on. By the time I got back I had walked around 15k altogether. We went to an Indian restaurant for dinner and it was pretty good. On the way back there were so many hookers, all wearing knee high pvc platforms, corsets over their tops and a bum bag, which apparently is the symbol that they are hookers, if you couldn't tell from the dodgy outfits. Today I'm pretty tired still, so I think I'll chill for awhile and then go to the historical museum later, leave the zoo til tomorrow when my feet and legs have recovered. Natasha, new girl and Frederik have all gone, and eric has had to move rooms, so there will be lots of new people coming in...I wonder what they'll be like?
