23/1 Mango Bay on Coral Coast to Uprising Resort at Pacific Harbour. Today was Jungle Trek day, and I was still trying to get over the last epic adventure on Waya Island, not only was that hard but I had also been bitten to death by my ever present companions the mosquitos. I was close to giving it a miss but decided to join in thinking that it cant be that hard and there was a promise of a swim in a watering hole at the end.
So glad I went, it was such a good laugh. We had a great group of people. At first we were desperately trying to keep dry, but it soon became clear that wasn't going to be an option. Holly was the first to get down and dirty! After that we were all in the mud and wading through streams. We had Vinnie and Joe as our guides. Vinnie showed us interesting facts about the plants and trees, which ones you could drink from and which ones would help with skin problems. Kerri-Ann and Gareth got badly sun burnt and ended up being creative with the vegetation to cover themselves up. The watering hole at the end didn't disappoint and we spent good part of an hour jumping off the rocks, the swing rope and yes Christian jumped off the tree the swing rope was on, about a 12m jump - very brave! The trek was brilliant and one of the highlights of my whole trip.
If that wasn;t enough, we made it to Uprising Resport at Pacific Harbour where the tail end of the Rugby Seven teams were still chilling out, and chanced upon, donut riding behind a jetsky. Myself, Christian and Simon had an hillarious 20 minutes or so being towed behind the jetsky hanging on for dear life. Simon "I'm going, I'm falling off, I'm on, I'm on, no I'm going...) Oh and the quote of the day was from Simon saying ... "do people fall all these then?" just as he fell off. We were the last ride of the day and we goaded the driver to see if he could get all 3 of us off at one time ... he didn't quite manage it but it was close sometimes.
Then we had coconut carnival, were vinnie told us all about coconuts - very interesting. Sally and Christian were made the coconut King and Queen lol.
This was where I was to leave the group. They were carrying on to the next destination in the morning and I was staying at Pacific Harbour for 3 days and catching the next bus because ......
