After a big drive yesterday, and a snack of tarantulas (we all tried some of their hairy legs !!!)
Kim: yeah yuck....
Kirsten: oh not actually that bad (after a lot of convincing).
Sarah: yeah I wouldn't have anymore...
Jade: ah yeah not too bad actually.
We had a nice early night at the hotel.
Today we went to the genocide museum with a tour guide so even though Kim and Sarah had already gone before, we all learnt so so much! We also had the privilege of meeting the only 2 survivors of the torture camp still alive today, to tell us their story.
Then we went over to the killing fields. It is a very confronting place, as we were told absolutely disgusting stories of what happened there. We literally had to walk on clothes and bones of the victims of the war that come to the surface because of rain and the tourists wearing out the paths and witness over 10,000 skulls in a large temple cabinet.
We were all pretty quite for most of the day just reflecting over what we had learnt. But at 6pm our awesome group leader got us VIP tickets to a big/popular kick boxing match in the city and we got on TV! It was crazy crowded as it was a famous fight between Cambodia and Thailand haha. Kim and jade especially got into it hahaha!
Then we went and had a beautiful locals dinner and off to bed now to get up nice and early and travel down south to the coast :D
Talk to you soon!!
Xoxo
