Our SE Asia Tour 2013
Spent a few hours at the Craft Museum which showed a collection of traditional houses from the various states as well as good exhibitions of craft. The textile museum was particularly interesting despite being badly lit and in need of more information and signage.
We did our shopping at the Central Cottage Industries Emporium which was a large building selling handicraft, furniture, paintings and textiles from all the Indian states. It had the appealing benefit of being fixed price so one was not subjected to the hard sell. Whilst we never succumbed to pressure to buy at other outlets, it was not pleasant shopping and sometimes you just walked away without looking because of it. Shopkeepers seem to bring out everything whether you wanted to look at it or not and it all ended up with being too much out and a disinclination to buy. The Emporium had the added benefit of being able to ship goods back to your country.
Back late to the hotel and had dinner with the other folk from the Peregrine tour.
