Last night in Venice, it certainly ranks high on our list of places we want to go back to;)
We went out last night and met a few people from Sweden, super nice people! Two guys were actually Ducati mechanics and another a racer! Rob was so jealous of them being able to test new fancy bikes around the track;) but their wage is quite low where they are so for them enjoying what they do is very important~ one guys dream was to come to Canada to fish...we told them about mom and dads plane and the fishing we can do with every cast having a fish, he was so excited! We told him if he ever comes our way, we would hook him up;) we had a fun dinner and drink with them!
This morning for Roberto was a little rough, a few slices of pizza, some advils and water and by afternoon he was doing alright;)
Went on a Gondola ride today!!! So cliche but was worth every minute and penny! To see the city that way was amazing! We went into the small inner city canals (so peaceful and breathtaking) and some of the ride on the grande canal which was fabulous to see from the gondola! I think the guy said to own an apartment on the canal was €8000 / square meter..craziness! Salma Hayek has a place on there and we rode past the place Brangelina rented when she was filming the Tourist movie;)
Such an amazing town with only 60000 people living here. I guess there used to be lots more but in the last while prices have jumped like 200% so many people can't afford to live here. Our guide said he lives about 15 minutes outside of Venice which costs him about 2/3rds less to live and many people who work in Venice live outside of it.
It's been a great visit~got my venetian mask of course, a leather Italian purse;) We are off to Florence in the morning;) xoxo good night!
