Hey everyone! Today was our last full day on Ko Phangan. We spent the time lounging on the beach and swimming. We ended up finding a sweet spot where it drops of pretty nicely in the water and was perfect for swimming around. Very refreshing.
We found out a few nights ago that there's some Election going on in Thailand so the Full Moon Party is now put off until Sunday Feb 24th. So we will miss it by two nights. Kinda too bad, but we can imagine its the same as any of the other nights weve seen here...just adding another 5 thousand to 10 thousand people. I think its not an unusual thing here that the party gets moved to different dates...they work around Buddist holidays and stop the sales of alcohol in the area. Were still not sure if thats everywhere that they do that...hoping not cause I could use a nice mojito as soon as were done here in the internet place.
Last night we had a good time with a few ppl from the Lighthouse. A girl from Australia named Olivia and a guy from Liverpool named James. They seemed like theyd known each other for years but we found out after that theyd only met 10 days ago.Neither Mike and I had ever heard two ppl talk about Kebabs like these two did. They both were goin on and on about lamb kebabs in Australia and how theyd do anything to have one that instant. funny guys they were. The swedish guy and them went up to a cool spot at the end of HaadRin called Mellow Mountain Bar...(some of you who have been here may know about it! ;) Anyways, twas good times. We ended up hangin back at a resort on our beach till later into the night. Got to play a wee bit of soccer in the sand too.
So, being our last night here, we are gonna take it easy back at the Lighthouse after we get some dinner in town. We are both (more so me) sad to leave here tomorrow morning. I am sad to leave Ko Phangan, partly cause it feels like we've been here for months and the Lighthouse has felt like home, and also cause its a pretty damn cool place to be.
Tomorrow morning we will catch a taxi (truck where u just hop into the back) to Thong Sala (where the seatran pier is) and take a 1/2 hr boat to Ko Samui where we will arrive on Big Buddha beach. From there we hope to stay on Haad Lamai although no idea what kind of openings there will be for accomodation. Crossing fingers there's something decent that doesnt smell. hehe.
Things we will miss on Ko Phangan:
- Mojitos at Nic's Tapas Bar
- The LIGHTHOUSE & our sweet bungalow and view.
- Leela Beach swimming!!
A few things we won't miss:
- Obnoxious drunk girls running around and stepping on peoples feet! (Mike's foot is doing much better now btw)
- The creepy tiles in our bathroom.
Be back again soon!
