So 20 mins later we arrive in Childers. My photos of this town are on facebook, the place looked like something from the 1950s with only one woolworths store, 1 beauty salon, 2 hairdressers, couple of bottle shops, lots of junk shops (this i loved and grandma so would of you!)a chinese restaurant - looked very questionable but was actually quite nice and three bars! We made Federal bar our local - and they loved us! By the end of our stay we were very well known within Federal :D!
So we went to Childers to finally begin our Zuccihni picking work! We started on the Sunday at 6am and met with Jake - who was extreeeemmely good looking, ex rugby player, and he was only 27 - good day to him! Anyways the work was okay, we ended up having quite a fun time on the farm. We hadf to pick the fruit off the bushes - which are very prickly i was no aware of this and fill up the buckets,. There was just myself, emma and richard who started here and gradually Jake got more people in as there was sooo much to pick - see picks on facebook! Turns out Jake and Lana didnt have much of a clue what they were doing and decided we all picked too slowly so they got people to pick by the bucket instead and we were moved onto planting the seeds and pulling the weeds out. The work was hard and I was just not enjoying myself very much at all! Jake was also not sure if there was enough work for us - there wasnt that was obvious, being a new farmer he didint have a clue what he was doing, anyways cut a long story short we quit - do not need to know the reasons too length to explain but we quite and headed back to Brisbane to figure out a new plan.
We made some nice friends in Childers, and had some fun times, including BBQs, Birthdays, going on a winery tour, visiting a beach whcih was stunning, and relaxing by the poool and topping up my tan!
So we booked our greyhound bus and off we went back to Brisbane and to meet Gemma at the station (she had left us to go home for her friends wedding and then came back out to do her 3 months fruit picking!)
I had a lot of time to think about it and decided i didnt want the 2nd yr visa that badly, theres so much more i want to see and experience and i do not feel that it is in Australia. I decided i would go to Perth one month early, where I would be staying with family! Gemma and Emma went to Adelaide to work on an organic farm where they get free food/accom but no pay they will do this for 3 months and should have their 2nd yr visa by the end of it!
