I'm not in Australia yet but I'll be leaving in just one week! To add to my plane tickets and visa I now have a little more information which makes me feel a lot better. I was sent of list of the other people participating, which includes two other girls from my school and quite a few people from Indiana, some information about my orientation in Melbourne, and some general information regarding flying and what to do at the airport and things. Most importantly, I was assured that upon my arrival in Melbourne there will be someone with a sign that says "Arcadia University" and I won't just have to wander around looking lost and confused in a very large country. Apparently they're still working out the details on housing and they haven't told us to bring tents so I'm under the assumption that I will have some form of housing when I get there. Then again, you know what they say about people who assume... Well, either way I'll be in Australia so it can't be all that bad. I also don't have any details about my internship but since that's the "reason I'm going" or something like that I'm also assuming that I'll get one of those once I get there. If not, hanging out in Australia doesn't sound that bad.
So here's the plan. I leave Raleigh on the 12th and eventually end up at LAX (my first trip to Cali and I won't make it out the airport doors). From there I'll take the group flight to Melbourne and have a three day orientation that is full of activities and information and getting to know people and all that jazz. Then we're off to Sydney! There I'll intern and go to class and have the time of my life until August 2nd when I'll head back to the states. Time travel! I'll be going back in time nearly a full day due to time zones and all that fun stuff. Eventually I will get home and be exhausted but with a little more experience under my belt and a lot of great stories (and pictures of course).
Now that I finally have a little more information I'm starting to get excited. At least until I look at everything I have to pack that is... But for now I'm going to enjoy the week with my family and friends, cats, and the puppies, which are getting bigger by the second. I'm looking forward to keeping you all updated on my adventure! Peace, Love, & Puppies. :)
