So I've had another fabulous weekend here in Sydney. On Friday night we had a girls night and saw "Spontaneous Broadway" at the Opera House. It was absolutely hilarious! It's a completely improved musical basically. At the start of the show you meet the characters and then each takes a suggestion from the "bucket of dreams". Each suggestion has a made up name of a musical and one of the songs from it. The actor or actress then makes up a synopsis on the spot and sings whatever song was suggested by improving it. After each person has performed, there was only five people, the audience votes on which musical they want to see improved. Our audience voted for "What ho, my Lord", the story of the Liberty Theater, a theater in London which was in danger of being condemned if the weren't able to make 1,000 pounds in a week by winning a competition. Naturally there were love complications and plot twists and some great singing. I laughed for almost the entire time we were there. It was definitely a good choice to go.
Yesterday we didn't do a whole lot but today we went to Taronga Zoo! It was great. Sunday is Family Funday for transportation so you can get an all day bus, ferry, and train pass for $2.50. The zoo was absolutely amazing. I was maybe a foot away from some kangaroos. Apparently you could touch them but we didn't know that. We're going to go touch some kangaroos another day though somewhere else. I saw all sorts of awesome creatures and although we were separated by glass, I stood about 3 feet away from a lioness and a tiger. I saw a platypus and a wallaby and we watched the seal show which was really good. We saw pretty much everything aside from the kids section of the zoo. I'll be sure to put up some pictures from my adventures soon. It takes quite a long time down here as the internet connection isn't always the best. Hope you're all enjoying your summer! I'm having a great time. Tomorrow is class from 10-4 though and then back to work on Tuesday.
