And after 10 weeks with our bums on the Honda Bonus, we finally said good bye to it as soon as we arrived in Pakse, Southern Laos. It took us 1,5 day and some degree of hard selling, to convince a couple of Germans (Germans are the craziest lot of all) to buy our motorbike. We were soooo sad to see it go but also rewarded to have done more than 5000 Kms with it, and happy to hand it over to the Germans that looked as excited as we were when we bought it in Saigon...

Here we are, finally leaving Vientiane after few days of chilling and resting. We also extended our Visa of few more days so we can complete the trip south and not having to rush.The ride through Central Laos wasn't necessarily the most exciting, featuring flat long roads and dry deserted agricultural landscapes. We were riding along the Mekong river and glimpse of it on the way were definitely the highlight.Half a way we took a detour to explore the well beaten ...

And in the end, we entered the most touristy city of Laos - Luang Prabang - on a blistering hot afternoon after a flat motorbike ride. The climate had been changing steadily since we left the mountains and reached lower plains, where the noon sun was almost unbearable to an Italian used to the August sun in Rome, imagine Mandy ;)Well, as Mandy says, a place is touristy for a reason, and Luang Prabang is touristy for a specific reason indeed - its charming colonia...

Finally back online after 10 days at the edge and far from civilization. We left Sam Neua very early in the morning and reached our next destination, Vieng Thong, early enough to do some sightseeing. Veing Thong is a small cross road village right in the middle of a natural reserve that claims to have 20 tigers inhabiting it. We didn't get to see any of them but managed to visit the rangers center where some motion controlled camera shots did reveal indeed the ex...

And we got through! After a sleepless night (at least me) just before the border, the crossing went as smoothly as we could even imagine. Our main worry was to get the motorbike through and avoid the Laos police to send us back as it happened to other tourists at other crossings more south.
