early morning start. nice and quiet at 6 am. moto hire and first ride to wat phu. awesome. sure, not as impressive as angkor wat but location ...! very nice. ride back to pakse for lunch , then ride up to bolaven plateau. tad fan and tad yang waterfalls, including swim. even more awesome! great day. early bed and heading off to savannakhet tomorrow, depending on transport...

it is a truly beautiful island, friendly locals in nice huts and traditional houses. just too many backpackers. nice walk in morning down to bridge connecting don khong. used to be french errected rail way connection to other island and beyond. on my way to pakse. and somehow made it. nice town with french touch. and more wifi. skype w dani.

8 seater minibus, packed with 17(!) people from kratie to stumg treng. here 3 hrs wait for connecting bus. then to laos border. visa on arrival: $35. i paid $40 at embassy and had to add $2 for the stamp. welcome to laos. then told there's no bus to pakse. go with the rest of group to island of don det. unexpectadly beautiful, although packed with partying backpackers. bummer, without those, this place would be heaven. one of 4000 (aledgedly) islands in mekong ri...
