Ao Nang, Krabi.
Well we have reached the islands!! I must say it is quite a relive to be out of the city the smog and the humidity is pretty bad in bangkok you have to duck in and out of the air conditioned shop to catch your breath.
We decided in the end to take the bus to krabi trying to stick to the budget as we blew it a little in bangkok After managing to catch the third taxi as the other two woulld not take us due to the mid day traffic time was a little tight to catch the bus but we where on are way until we had realsied that we had lost our tickets!! not good! Trev sprinted back to the hotel to see if they where there whilst i waited with the taxi driver who didnt speak a word of english! and was not happy about something but i didnt know what as i could not understand a word.Eventually we ended up driving round until trev came back so all was fine in the end and we made it on the bus a mayor relive to both of us tring to lug your ruck sacks around in that heat is like a proper work out down the gym!at least it will keep us trim after all the bumming on the beach we intend to do!
Eventually made it to krabi town after 14 hours on coach then mini bus. What they didnt tell us when we booked our tickets was that thay dropped you off at a travel agent to then be transfered onto another mini bus to ao nang as you are desperate for a shower food and rest they pounce on you and get you to book through them for your accomondation and as you are desperate you do! but it was fine we didnt not pay to much over the odds. Two hours later after a droning drive on the straightest road i have ever been on felt like it was never going to end we end up at our destination a place called Tipanda. A row of wooden bungalows on stilts fanned out in frount of us with a dramatic but beautifull background of the limestone mountains and a rich green jungle this looked really inviting place to get our haeds down before dinner. What we didnt realise is that they backed on to a river which seperated us from the jungle. We where just about to get our heads down and sleep when we heard the scuttling of insect legs and the high pitched chirp of something creapy. When trev whipped his head to the left he was met with a view of a rather large cockroach running across the wall i have honestley never seen trevor move so fast in my life!! The hotel owner in a effort to make us feel better got Noon the hotel handy man to fumergate our room.Which unfortunatly had a adverse effect and the cockroaches desided they wanted a party in our bungalow!Four more friends joined the first one crawling over all our stuff the curtains and the bed!!For the second time that day i saw trev move like the wind. Stuff was packed and we imedialtly bartering for our money back eventually we managed to upgrade our room to a air con concrete for half the price so it turned out well in the end if not giving trev a bug phobia! Finaly we slept to find that the resturant was closed. The Thai family where having a birthday to which we where swiftly invited to. They got us a seat and piled our plates with food which was loverly but some of it was to hot for even me and trev to eat. The woman that run the place was called miss A who was so loverly and friendly and run the resort with her family. They where such wonderfull and hospitipal people we instantly felt welcome and at ease. We sat on a table with two people that where on holiday there Heidi who is canadian and Patrique who is french. Heidi proceded to tell us all her experiences of Ao Nang where to go and what to do she was having such a good time and it showed!!
The next day we where keen to have a look round and see what there was to do but then the rain came and it didnt stop for three days much to trevors dismay as his ear had filled up and he could not hear out of it! We tried everthing ear drops, hot water, equalising eventually he ahd to go and see a docter who told him he had an ear infection and could not swim or fly so we shopped had massages ate and drank or at least i did there was not much else to do as the rain was pretty persistant. Despite having our wings clipped we still managed to go on a Thia cookery course and visit a fresh water lagoon , hot spings and treck in the jungle which was amazing plus walking up the side of tiger cave mountain which was hard going especially in the rain and the monkeys!
Best go now as we have to get a long tail boat back to our island before it gets dark otherwise we will have to trek through the jungle to get back!
Hope you are all well -leave us some messages on our board! We will post some photos up soon as soon as we solve the problems we are having with the web site.
