Tuesday 13th December
Another day in LA, staying at the Magic castle in downtown Hollywood, where the free lollies never seem to end and the dentist bill when we get back should fund his retirement unit at Mooloolaba..
Time for the boys and girls to go their separate ways on a field trip. The boys taxi'ed downtown and we hired an American version of a Holden Cruze for a couple of days. They boys then headed to the LA science museum and had fanciful thoughts of going to the Natural History Museum as well! No such luck as we got enjoyed the science, space, rockets, interactive exhibits, lots of friendly staff help on how things worked (for the less mechanically inclined such as myself -especially when Finn asks "how does that work Dad?") So time beat us after a few hours and we had our first McDonalds experience "in country". Connor had a dream of asking for a "supersized" burger meal and had his dream crushed when the lady said "we don't supersize, it's just small, medium , large!" He went large… As the boys engaged their neuron receptors, the girls on the other hand engaged their social side and did the Paramount studio tour (Lara's obsession with Glee being filmed there had nothing to do with it!) Feeling energetic, the girls decided to walk to the studio from our unit…. I will leave that story for Addy!
At the completion of our separate activities, we had decided for the boys to pick up the girls from Paramount studios. Of course things did NOT go to plan and I missed an email message until we were safely back in our unit, asking for a late pickup elsewhere! Back into LA traffic (yuk!) using Lara's email messages from an internet shop to eventually find them at a groovy pizza place in some strange suburb… Great pizza slices and spaghetti and meatballs! Headed home for good rest and our last night at the Magic Castle (sad face). The kids will have to undergo lollie detox to survive!
ciao
