Hallo from Munich!!
We arrived here in the early evening of the 19th to a welcome of torrential rain to accompany us on our walk to our accommodation. After arriving at the flat (another Airbnb place) looking like a couple of drowned rats, we met our host Marcus, a nice guy with another great apartment and whom we barely saw during our stay which made a nice change from packed hostels!
The first couple of days we explored the city on foot and bike. We saw the huge English gardens with a very popular beer garden inside and a 'river wave' where surfers ride a constant wave, town hall in the heart of Munich, and the famous beer hall 'Hofbrauhaus' where millions of liters of beer are smashed every year.
Day 3 in munich marked the arrival of Stacey, Nicole and Kim, Nat's friends from home. Jet lagged but ready for Oktoberfest greatness.
The next three days were a blur, but somewhat consisted of personal beer consumption records, midday naps, gingerbread heart necklaces (Ant) carnival rides, standing on tables chanting German songs with locals, drunk cravings for corn cobs (Ant), 6 am pre drinks, vodka gummy bears, abundance of roast chicken, pretzels, national costumes, crushing queues for the beer tents, judging of drunk people on the streets and did I mention pretzels? Well even more of them!
It was the best three days a European reunion could ask for!!! But all great parties must come to an end so sadly we left the girls early one morning to embark on 9 hours of train rides to our next destination...
