Hey everyone, blog time again!
We have seen so much since our last blog! The bus trip here overnight was very interesting! The bus was amazing, with big leather reclining squishy seats and plenty of leg room - a bit like business class on a plane we think! The journey started with a big dinner, at 10pm! Odd, but thats how they do it over here! Can´t say either ofus ate much... good effort on their part but not very appetising! Lights were eventually put out (after the film Antz was shown in Portuguese with spanish subtitles, interesting combination we thought since we were in Argentina not Brazil!) and we both managed to get a bit of broken sleep during the night. We were woken for breakfast at about 8am (again didnt eat much as it was chocolate peanut filled bisuits and yoghurt wafers...) But arrived safely and got a taxi to our new hostel where we have been staying for the last few nights and will stay until Annie leaves :-( on sunday and Sarah heads to Peru. The hostel is fine and has been a great location for us to explore the city. Which we have done! The afternoon we arrived we went to the San Nicholas neighbourhood, saw the obalisque and generally found our feet. Since then we{ve also been to San Telmo which is the retro, antique-filled neighbourhood, we have been back to the main plaza and into cathedral whilst protests went on outside! Last night we hit the shops - some amazing shopping malls where we looked but didnt touch! ...and others where we spent! Today we ventured onto the cities subway system and headed east to Palermo, the posh end of town! Here there was a beautiful Japenese Garden and a stunning rose garden that was in bloom. We hired a pedalo on the lake that surrounded the Garden which was lovely. Tomorrow we are heading down to the port area to see the sea! And on sunday we are hopinjg to go to a market that we have heard great things about before heading to the airport. Food here is cheap, and places to eat abundant. We have continued to enjoy many local cuisines, empanadas etc. We have a couple of places in mind for tonight, but first we are going to hunt out an internet cafe that will hopefully let us upload some pics (this one is ancient and wont have any of it!) So look out for pics soon hopefully! ...Have now managed to add some finally!! Third internet cafe lucky! There are new pics in both the Andes to Mendoza folder and the new Buenos Aires one, enjoy!
Hope you all have a lovely Bank Holiday Weekend back in the UK.
Miss you all loads,
Sarah & Annabel x x x x x x
