Hello!
WOW! That`s all we can say about the last two days! We have been exploring the Iguazu Falls, firstly on the Brazilian side yesterday and today on the Argentian side. Both days have been absolutely amazing, although today has been especially fantastic!
We will start with yesterday (5th). We got a flight from Buenos Aires domestic airport to Foz do Iguazu. We nearly missed the flight because the tour bus didn[t turn up so we had to get taxis to the airport. We did however make the flight and we arrived safely in Foz at about midday. We then went straight to our hotel to dump our bags and check into our room. The hotel is lovely. Much nicer than the BA one (and even that was good too). There is an outdoor pool and the breakfast is really great!
We set off to see the Brazilian side of the falls (see photos). There was a special walkway so that you could get a perspective of the falls from all angles. The sun was just setting, so it was very atmospheric. There was one walk way where you could walk out over the falls and the spray was pretty fierce so we got a bit wet! You could also get a lift up to the top to look down on them.
In the evening we went out for a traditional Brazilian meal (including a black bean dish with noodles which is very authentic) and had a few cocktails!
Today we have explored the Brazilian side of the falls. We thought that it was going to be pretty hard to top the previous day because it was just amazing, but it turned out that the Argentinian side of the falls were absolutely spectacular. There were lots of things to do, including a dingy boat ride over the placid calm side of the falls before the big drop down. Also, we took a jetboat on the falls and went under the water falls where they dropped. We got absolutely drenched, but it was so much fun and you really got a sense of what speed the water comes down at.
Tonight we are going to go out shortly for some food and maybe a drink. We`re both really tired (apologies for bad grammar, typing etc..), but it has definitely been worth it. Just to see the falls, the wildlife and the scenery from every angle has been beautiful.
Hope everyone is well. Thank you so much for all the messages on the wall - we really appreciate it and it`s good to know everyone is looking at the blog.
Tomorrow we are getting a flight to Sao Paulo and then it is a 5 hour bus drive to Paraty on the coast. In the morning we are either going to the Bird park in Iguazu or into Paraguay to the authentic market - we can`t decide which one to do!
Lots of love and we`ll update again soon. Hope you like the photos (it has been quite a problem to upload lots but hopefully this sample will give you a taster and there are PLENTY more to come!).
