Got up and Michaels current obsession is French food so we went to go and find a bakery to get croissants.
I lost all pairs of my shoes in Laos and literally only have a pair of flip flops, we are going on a trek today and didn't think it was appropriate so went to go and find some trainers but didn't get any anywhere!
The receptionist made me put on the most hideous blue rubber shoes I have ever seen! Seriously I made Michael cut out my feet in all the pictures so don't laugh if you do see them!
Got picked up at 9.30 by our tour guide who is a traditional village person but does this as a job as the villages all have different languages!
Got on the bus there! There was 6 other people on this tour with us and I hated them all. What's new! This French guy was the worst though! I thought Michael was bad at being a diva and attention seeking but he is shy compared to this moron!!
Drove past a building site we had to stop at for 20 minutes. They are building a hotel but it's on lots of minerals so there is lots of police that stop you? Well I think that's what she said but it doesn't really make sense?
Got dropped off at the top of the first village. About 10 village women met us and started walking with us.
Lao Chai village was the first one we visited! It is all so spread out! I think there is lots of treks that happen through these places but we only saw one other group!
The way the locals find another local girl to marry here is to kidnap her and lock her in a cupboard for 3 days, feed her and if she eats all the food then you will be married as its a sign she has accepted you! You would not catch me chilling in a cupboard for more then a minute!
There is a high suicidal rate for the women here! They have to do a lot though, raising children, working, taking care of the house and doing the same thing every day! It's so sad.
There is also high HIV rates here! At the post office there is two boxes outside. One with condoms in and the other with clean syringes in. This is to promote safe sex and the government knows they will use drugs here so they provide syringes so they don't have to share them!
The tour guide took us to a marijuana field and told us they all smoke it for medicinal reasons, don't worry we believe you!
All the local women walking with us asked us the same questions, what's your name, where are you from, do you have brothers and sisters. That was it! I don't think some of them understood what they were asking! They all had black teeth which is an attractive thing here.
The next village we walked to was Ta Van village. It had such beautiful scenery as its was surrounded by mountains with rice paddys. They looked like stair cases going up into the the mountains and the locals would work on them. Must be such hard work!
We visited a primary school here which had three class rooms and were pretty basic. All the children walk from miles around to get to the school each day. Children only have to go to primary school. If they can afford it they can move to Sapa and go to secondary school there.
We stopped to have lunch in this village near where the home stay people stayed over after one day of trekking. They gave us hard boiled eggs, bread and cream cheese to eat! Weird when we are surrounded by miles of rice fields with fruit trees and wild animals everywhere?
We were sat in a wooden house and the kids were watching satellite tv! You can also buy sim cards and all sorts of random things here!
We then carried on walking, this part was treturous! There was a mud path around the rice fields, houses and barns but as it had rained so heavily last night it was just sinking mud all the way along!
Michael's full foot went into mud, I heard him scream before I saw it! He is so funny! Michael fell over 16.7 times and I fell over 29.5 times! I'm getting so much better! The locals laugh at me though!
Apparently I look vulnerable so these women were helping me across this river standing on stones all the way across, after this they didn't stop holding my hand. It is all fine and well them trying to help but one women on each hand, one carrying a baby on her back and the other a huge basket I couldn't see my own feet!
The houses here with the bunches of dried leaves on top mean that there is evil spirits in the house. Either the people inside are very sick or they are vampires. When people bump into the vampires, the vampires would bribe the locals with sweets or food to get them to keep it quiet.
The women with the baby was lovely but seriously, if I slip and fall she would go plummeting to her death down the side of a mountain! So I had to watch what I was doing!
Some of the villages have red circular blotches on there skin, as example of this is when a girl had one on her forehead. She apparently had a headache and to get rid of this they get a bamboo cup and suck out all the bad energy!
The religion here is virgin Christians.
I got attacked by a flying red terydaptile! I don't need this!! I ran around screaming until a women stopped me and got it off. I'm so glad I didn't overreact to a beetle...
The village women filled my shoes with leaves when they started to get slippery from all the mud! It worked a treat! You would think they are locals or something ...
After trekking through the jungle a bit further we got to Giang Ta Chai Village
This is where most of these women are from. So they all started selling us everything from out of these baskets! They are relentless but made you feel sorry for them!
Started to cross the bridge from the village to the road but had to turn back as wild buffalo were crossing in the opposite direction! Didn't freak out at this either ...
Waited an hour for the mini bus to pick us up, got back to the guest house and washed my feet with the hose outside!
Went to the market as we havnt properly visited it yet and it's only down our street! It looks small but when you explore it more it's pretty big! Michael bought a ring for Lee, it cost him 50000 dong (£1.50) but handed over 500000 (£15) by accident and I had to chase after the guy to give it back! He has done this about 5 times now!!
Got fried bananas from a stall which cost 5000 each (15p) and were amazing! The bananas here are a lot sweeter then at home!
We collected our bags and walked to the bus station. As usual we got ignored until all the locals had got on and got the best seats.
I ended up sleeping on the bed behind Micheal but we were in the middle row! So at some point I know I'm going to fall off either side of this!!
