Alarm was set for half 8 again!! Got ready, packed and checked out! Ordered breakfast at 9.20 and I went to give the playing cards back! Asked which pier we had to go to to get the boat and we had to get a taxi boat to the pier at 9.30! Booked it 70 baht each (£1.40) and ran back to Michael, downed my muesli and ran with our rucksacks to catch the boat! Not a good start!
Got the taxi boat to Krabi Pier which took 20 minutes, waited half an hour for a connecting bus which took an hour to get to Krabi station. Waited 2 hours for a coach that took 2 and a half hour to get to Don Sak Port and then got a ferry that took 2 and a half hours to get to Koh Phangan via Koh Samui. It was a very long day, traveling 9 hour in total as we got to Koh Phangan at half 6!!
It was horrible weather today but I think I'm glad as it would have made the journey a whole lot harder if it was scorching like most days!
Before I came travelling I didn't realise quite how much actual travelling you do! It take up so many of your days when we are on time limits for each country! :( I know that sounds silly!
Got to Koh Phangan and we were at the wrong smegging pier!!! I think the ferry just stops where they feel like stopping! We were supposed to be able to walk to our beach huts but had to haggle down a taxi to 300 baht (£6) and jump in!
I would rather have walked!
The roads here are ... Safe! ;) not really ha its so hilly here! There are so many sharp corners on cliffs where there is massive signs saying slow down which everyone ignors! I felt as safe as I do on hull fair rides! Sitting in the back of a pick up truck with nothing to hold on to flying through the air! While scooters overtake on blind sharp cliff corners! They belong in mental care units! I may suggest this to the king! On other thoughts, maybe not, i can't go off schedule!
Definately getting scooters here! Will be hilarious! (not really mum, I'm boring remember)
Got to the Seaview Sunrise Resort half an hour later only to find out they had double booked us! Typical Thai! They luckily had another beach hut to put us in! It was beautiful! No complimentary creatures in this one! Well except for the ants but I can live with them!!!
Our hut is right on the beach, on wooden stands so it phisically is on the beach! No air con but a fan! Our own balcony with hammock and three parm trees! DONE! SOLD! Never leaving!
Went out for tea and got talking to the waitress Mai! She asked us to guess her age and Michael went first thank god! He guessed 20! I thought he was on crack! She looked about 14 but I would have told her 16. She was 23! There is no way!
Anyway she told us he has worked every day for 3 years as a waitress, she works 9am till 12pm and gets paid 7000 baht a month (£140)! If my maths is correct (and it usually isn't) she gets 33p an hour if it's a 4 week month. What an actual joke! British people are so lucky! I know it's the difference in cost of living but come on!!!!! How she keeps a smile on her face I'll never know! She was the sweetest girl ever!
Finished off 3 Mai Thais and walked back along the beach. Home sweet home!
