Got up at 11.30 and checked out by 12. Walked to the china town food court to get some rice from hot boy stall, if only he knew my love for him!! He wasn't there today though! How dare he have a day off! We took a sly picture of him yesterday though, something to remember him by! Haha
Got the bus to the STB bus station the other side of Kuala Lumpur at 1.30 and it took half an hour of standing up with my rucksack on falling around the bus to get there! Bet everyone loved me! ;)
Arrived at the station and bought a bus ticket from the counter for 20 ringgit (£4) for the 2 hour bus journey!
The 2.15 bus to Melaka was very posh! Huge comfy seats and it was practically empty! Maybe because there are lots of buses going but I wasn't complaining!
Arrived at Melaka Sentral bus station and found bus 17 while being harassed by a million men to try and sell us things and stay in there hotels! Go away! The bus was only 2 ringgit (40p) and was half an hour to the city centre near china town! Had to ask the driver to tell us where to get off as the maps we got given were rubbish!
Got off the bus and set off looking for Eastern Heritage the guest house we wanted to stay in. We were walking around Melaka in the boiling hot sun for 1.5 hours! I was suicidal with a 22kg rucksack on my back and a 8 kg backpack on my front! I think Michael passed out 3 times! Haha! We no longer cared about life, travelling or anything else!
Finally found our accommodation in the centre of Little India and checked in. Don't even remember checking in just ran straight for the cold shower! Kill me!
Eastern Heritage Guest House is an old 1918 house made into a guest house. It has polished wooden floors, ancient tiles and eroding paint! The walls inside have different colourful pictures painted on them and there is a Chlamydia filled swimming pool at the bottom of the stairs as big as a double bed!
Walked to China Town, you have to cross a bridge over the river and on the floors it has 'no smoking' signs, so Michael had to wait! Did take a photo of him standing on the sign smoking though! Rebel!
China Town was deserted! Nothing was open and no body was around! We asked a few people why as its supposed to be the busiest part and they said the weekend are very busy so Monday in like there Sunday day of rest!
Saw another guest house in China Town called 'Chong Hoe' thats about the same price as ours but is more central and cleaner! We will come back to view the room tomorrow as it was full!
Ate at the only food place open called 'Famous Chicken Rice Balls', didn't look promising being a vegetarian though!
Had Portuguese fish cake which was bits of fish, vegetables and spices mushed up then baked. Had this with rice balls which are rice but as a ball surprisingly! The name didn't give it away at all!
Walked to Bucket Bar, simply to use the wifi as we didn't think we had it in the guest house. They put Mr Bean on and I was in hysterics! Gotta love Bean! Michael wasn't impressed and doesn't find him funny! Maybe I'm the fun one in this relationship!
There is a Melaka night market from 6 till 9 so we used the map from our guest house to try and find it, walked around Melaka pointlessly again for 2 hours! What a joke! Walking through mug central at pick pocket o'clock is never good! The market was no where to be seen and nothing was open being monday!
For back to the guest house at nearly 9, there was an old lady sat in reception from Yorkshire and we sat and spoke to her for nearly 2 hours! She was helping out working there, she was about 60 though and told us her life story! Don't know her name but she looked like a Vera!
Showered in cockroach-ville, it wasn't a bad shower considering it was a hose pipe in a concrete room with freezing cold water!
We researched in my three guide books where to go and what to see in Melaka, got bored as it's all old bricks and museums so the next few days will be boring! Also researched about Singapore and Indonesian, the last two countries we are going to.
Wrote blogs for some of the night, our room is absolutely boiling hot, we have a balcony but it has a stair case to the street below so so couldn't leave it open!
There was some creature trapped in the window above our bed making a right noise all night, we couldn't set it free though as if we opened the window 293 mosquitoes would come in and what if it turned out to be a terydaptile and flew straight for me! So we just had to wait till it died. Which is didn't! Finally got to sleep at 1.30!
