Got up at 11.30, packed and checked out by 12. The receptionist recommended a place to stay in Penang and called to reserve a room for us.
Went to go get some food from the food court, had ginger rice and an iced coffee from the hot guys stall!
Went back to the room and as we are returning to Kuala Lumpur we asked to leave out rucksacks here and pack a weekend bag. Its costing us 6 ringgits (£1.20) for 4 night. Leaving it behind was hard, ramming everything into a weekend bag was even harder!
Went to the Internet cafe to waste time and to upload another travelling photo album, this time laos, it cost 6 ringgits (£1.20) for two hours!
Went to collect our bags and leave our hostel, we have stayed here for ages it feels so weird! It feels like home...
Had some tea then walked to the bus station! GI Joe met us at the entrance clearing the path for us even though we knew where we were going and already had tickets and told him this a million times! He was trying to sell us tickets though. Typical!
Went to argue with the bus lady again, we wanted a bus to George Town in Penang but she sold us a bus to Nibong in Penang but assured us the bus then went onto George Town, which we don't believe.
Got on the bus, asked if it went to George Town and they said no. Morons. The bus was very posh! It had huge seats that were made from material not plastic! Luxury! The seats reclined as well! It was described as a 5* bus.
Left at 5.30 on time! Which never happens! It took 5 hours to get to Butterworth at the border and we got told if the bus didn't go to George Town we should get off and get the ferry ourselves.
Got off the bus at 10.30 and walked in the dark through mugging central at pick pocket o'clock to get to the ferry. The sign at the gate said 'no cows allowed' So I had to leave Michael behind.
The 15 minute ferry from Butterworth to George Town cost 1.20 ringgit (24p) and set off at 10.45.
The whole island of Penang has wifi but it's dodgy you have to agree to not complain if they hack your banking! No way! Coundt if they tried anyway! HSBC won't let me in!
Sat with this old hippie lady who looked like mystic meg, she told us about her life and how she has had to come out of retirement as her friend died and gave her his business. She recommended getting a 2 month visa for Indonesia where she lives! Which we won't be doing. 2 months! I cnt even afford 2 days!
Walked three blocks from the ferry port called 'Jetty' to Love Lane, the street we stay on! We are staying at Love Inn! Which I find hilarious! Lovinggggg
We were greeted by a cockroach the size of king kong, you should have heard Michael scream!!
As we only have tonight and all day tomorrow we asked the receptionist what he would recommend seeing tomorrow, he gave us a map and said we should go to Kek Lok Temple, Penang Hill and the Botanical Gardens.
He then recommended tonight we should go and eat at Red China which is near Love Lane.
Red China is a huge food court that serves Chinese, Indian, Italian and western. There was this quirky stall that served toast boxes filled with whatever you wanted but we decided not to get it! We will get it tomorrow!
I had Indian rice in a clay pot with white fish. It was called Briyani and was lush!
In the food court they had live singers. They didn't know a speckle of a word and flirted with the tables of men to get tips after!
There was a member of staff we nick names 'the tooth fairy'. I don't think there is any need for an explanation!
Got back to the hostel at 12, they had turned off the wifi, I hate places that do this! They can cook my sock!!
