I wrote the following at different parts during my flights. It will probably sound pretty boring as I just wrote whatever came to mind to help pass the time.
I have arrived on the plane! It is beautiful - I can't believe how much room I have! I am upstairs on the aircraft and only half of the seats are full, so nobody is sitting next to me. I'm surprised Qantas didn't upgrade anybody to business class from premium economy but maybe that's just not what they do. The flight attendants are nice and hung up my jacket when I boarded.
I think there are some Olympians on this flight. One guy was wearing the jacket for the Australian Olympic Shooting team and there are a couple of athlete-looking guys sitting in front of me and they all seem used to this kind of treatment.
The menu is really nice! I had Yamba prawns for an entrée, grilled snapper for my main, and the fruit platter for dessert. There was a cheese platter too but I was so full that I had to go with the fruit.
The sunset from the plane is absolutely amazing over the water; I'll upload a couple of photos of it. The flight attendants here are so friendly, they call me "Miss West" haha. Since the cabin is half empty they've been so prompt with everything it's fantastic! I'm enjoying it to the full potential since I most likely won't fly business again.
I haven't been bored yet once! I started watching "The Lucky One" but it was a stupid movie so I watched Carl Baron stand up and then had my meal, read some of my magazine, scratched some scratchies etc. I'm so happy being here and am so fortunate to have this experience before my travels properly begin.
I'm missing everybody already, but I am getting more and more excited as I relax into the idea of being away for a little while. My mood keeps changing from one extreme to another, which is annoying.
I now have 4 hours and 40 minutes left until I reach Singapore. I might have a bit of a lie down and see how the flat bed is. The bathrooms in Business aren't much different to economy…they just put some random flowers in there and some nicer hand wash. But there are 4 toilets shared between probably 12 people so no line ever!
I am now in Singapore and I am already exhausted. I tried to access the internet but it won't let me unless I register at a help desk and I can't see any of those. I am definitely not looking forward to this next flight…I'm happy that I have sleeping pills but I'm still unsure if I will be able to sleep on the plane. I really hope that I can because I'll need to be feeling okay for my layover/flight from London to Greece/bus trip from Athens airport to my hotel. I think I have another 30 hours of travelling ahead of me! Definitely wouldn't want to be doing this very often as it is just so draining!
I am missing home already. Luckily I packed lots of tissues! I don't think my phone will be working overseas, as it isn't working right now.
Now I'm on the second leg of my journey, premium economy on the A30. There is just as much leg room here as there is in business and the entertainment is far better. The only drawback is that the recline sucks. Thanks to the sleeping pills I got some sleep on the plane! I think it's the first time ever that I've been able to sleep on a plane and I got 6 hours! It was a very broken sleep but it doesn't bother me because it made the 14-hour flight seem so much shorter, and I feel way more refreshed. I actually fell asleep as soon as the plane took off haha so I missed out on supper. When I woke up the attendant brought me a toasted focaccia corned beef sandwich, which was really yummy. I think I have four hours left on this flight and breakfast is being served soon so it should break up the time a little. I have been watching Modern Family as I've tried to watch a few movies but I get bored. Not looking forward to the layover in London and another flight to Athens but at least once I get off this plane it'll mean the longer part of the travelling is done.
Only an hour and a bit until I land in London! The flight was a lot more pleasant than I expected, probably because of the sleep. Breakfast was really yummy I had an omelette with a couple pieces of bacon and some fresh fruit.
I'm at Heathrow airport now just waiting around doing nothing. I have to wait 2 and a half hours until Agean Airlines opens for me to check in my bag and go through security and everything which is unfortunate because there's nothing to do before security! By the time I get to my hotel I will be so tired. It should be about 7pm in Greece which I think will be like 2am in Sydney so I'll go straight to bed and that should help with the jet lag.

Dad Great update Annie. A very long trip but at lease you had good seats and the food sounded very nice. Keep updating and I will keep reading. Will send you results of Souths v moanly tomorrow night.
Louise Hi Annie, so glad you are enjoying your travels to Greece. I don't think you have spared any details haha. It is very cold here in Sydney and it will be a very cold night. You are so lucky to be so close to the beautiful Mediterranean with its sunny days, great food and good Contiki friends. Have safe travels and we miss you very much too. Just enjoy your time away. Love Mum xxx
Martin Hey Annie, I saw you took your phone with you, i-phones will try to connect to the internet whereever they can to get check-in data and look up the weather. Try to keep your phone off when you're oversea's if it connects to the internet and downloads data its like $20 per megabyte... if your phone stays on and downloads 1 gigabyte of data then your next phone bill will be $20,000 - Try to use skype where possible, you can even buy credit for skype to call mobiles internationally :) - Don't want you to get owned by a massive bill, my friend just came home to a $5000 bill after leave her i-phone on overseas.
Martin On another note is good to see you're having a great time, Katrina got her nose pierced while you were away. It looks good and she's obsessed with it. I saw you're going snorkeling, do you have an underwater camera? I think underwater shots on the greek islands would look sick! - Glad to see you're having fun, looking forward to lots of stories when you get back :)
