Deadwood is an amazing place, steeped in history and mythology about the west, we had 3 amazing days with Steve our fabulous host, he gave us drive itineraries and showed amazing hospitality.

Custer National Park SD, buffalo herd in the park. Really amazing to see up close, with the lone bulls just wandering on the road
Deadwood, South Dakota
Arrived weary after 24 hours travelling into rapid city in the middle of a big storm with hail and winds. Picked up our hire car, a big ford explorer and headed to Deadwood where we received a warm welcome from Steven an Aussie who lives here. His house is over 100 years old from 1887. A good nights sleep under our belt we are off exploring today.
Deadwood, South Dakota
1st day in South Dakota & Steve played tour leader taking us out on his boat on Paktola Lake with a few brewskis. Then a scenic drive up through picturesque Spearfish Canyon. Finishing the day with a tour of the Mount Moriah historic cemetery where Wild Bill Hickock & Calamity Jane are buried.
Mt Rushmore, South Dakota
Big roadtrip today, did a big loop down through the Black Hills of South Dakota , Custer National Park where we saw bison and deer & spectacular scenery. Then it was on to Mt Rushmore & the new Crazy Horse monument that is being carved into the rock ala Mt Rushmore. We then drove back via Wyoming. Finishing up with a BBQ on the deck overlooking Deadwood.
