Taupo or taawpoor as the kiwis pronounce it was decidedly wet and windy. After a slap up cooked breakfast we braved the elements and headed into town. Having established where we could park we decided the best thing to do was to eat again to just get out of the rain. The rain then took us to the cinema to watch 'the tourist' with copious amounts of sweets from the nearby sweet shop.
Having such an uncharacteristically relaxed day we decided to correct this and headed to the nearest Bungie station so that I could throw myself off a platform 40m into the river before bouncing back up. Having thrown myself down a 130m ravine a week or so earlier this was like a walk in the park. Having conquered 'the fear' we headed for Hukka Falls.
Rather than heading over to the scenic viewpoint from above we decided for the EXTREME option - a jet boat up to the foot of the falls!! The rain was now inconsequential having been hit by wave upon wave as we spun and slid our way down the river at top speed enroute to the falls, having got some air along the way.
Deciding not to go to Prawn Park to hit golf balls into the worlds largest naturally heated prawn farm....???.... we headed to check our emails at the local hostel (confirming to Anne that she was right to black list all hostels after our experience in Cairns 7 years ago).
After grabbing a bite to eat at pub in town we hit the sack early after a particulary wet day.
