First activity with the group On s'bouge yesterday. Were present :
Guillaume & Séverine and their son Lucas, Anja, her son Milan, Fabien, Gaëtan & Stéphanie and their daughter Eloïse, Mike and his son Lenny and Adrien.
We went to visit a goat farming and it was quite fun and interesting. First because you can go and feed and pet goats and billy goats without any fear for your kids or yourself because they're really nice. Just like dogs they like to be pet and make you understand it is not a good idea to stop taking care of them by shaking their heads or grabing your jacket nicely.
There were also 2 pigs but I could not go near them. It smelled so bad I almost puked. I tried several times but really impossible.
At 4:30pm everyday, the goats are milked for the second time during the day and we could assist to that. As soon as the guy from the farm arrived, the goats knew what would happen and came running towards him. They were definitely ready, as what we saw from their teats. They really needed to be milked.
12 goats get milked together and it always starts with the same : with the most dominant goats of the flock. He said that every goat has always the same place, because they are used to it and it was true because one goat arrived too early but it wanted to have the place at the very left (which is rank #12) and no way, it didn't want to take rank #8. The goats eat while they are milked and give 2/3 litres of milk per day. It takes 40 minutes in the afternoon to milk 70 goats and 1 hour and 15 minutes in the morning because there is more milk.
Of course we could not resist buying some products from the shop. Mike even bought 5 cheeses. Adrien and myself just bought one cheese that is smoked (and tastes a bit like bacon, yum!) and a jam made of goat milk and sugar. I'm curious to taste it!
