Anna's Adventures
So today marks the end of my career as a teacher. The kids have left and all that is left is to add up their final grades and write their reports.
On our final day we only had two exams, so in our free time I tried to organise a party. In full party-planning mode I started organising, when of the girls awkwardly shuffled forward to whisper in my ear that the mothers of the students were organising a surprise party for me at the same time. I ruined the surprise, but the party was still fun! We played Ladders (which ended in one of the boys running over one of the girls' legs) and Simon Says (when the kids got carried away doing impressions of cats and I got told off for letting the kids "roar")
The mothers organized the food, and we had tajadas con carne (plantain crisps with mince and onions), a giant cake and ice cream. There were loads of sweets, cookies and fizzy pop going around as well. Enough E-numbers, caffeine and sugars to send the kids bouncing off the walls.
I can't really believe that I'm not going to see my kids again. Although I've spent this whole year looking forward to my traveling time at the end of the year, it crept up on me! It came to the last week and I'd almost forgotten we were leaving! My kids got all cute about it and I now have a ton of paintings asking me (or telling me) to stay, including one of a cat and one of me seemingly riding a butterfly. A couple of them cried. It's lovely to know that I've had such a good effect on them.
For the next two months I will be traveling Central America until either I fly home on the 30th of July or I run out of money (probably more likely). So wish me luck and I'll try and update this as often as I can with where I am and what I'm up to!
Chao for now! A x
