When we hit the road it was great, we headed down SH73 and all we could see were mountains, this was the New Zealand we were expecting. The weather was sunny and all was good. Our first night in the campervan was spent at a free DOC campsite, called Klondyke Corner. The only facilities it had was a toilet, and it did not look inviting. We both did not venture anywhere near the loo, and did what bears do, in the woods. (no number 2's may I add). We both had a great comfy nights sleep in Keith (our campervan) and was looking forward to the next venture. We made our way down to the small village of Arthurs Pass, and asked at the Isite for a good walk for the rest of the afternoon. That evening we headed onto another campsite, but a paid one this time, we needed a shower. We stayed at Jacksons retreat, a very nice campsite with lovely facilities. Another comfy night in Keith. Next day we planned on heading towards Greymouth and making a detour to Pancake Rocks near Punakaiki, before heading down the coast towards Franz Josef.
