29/3 - We set off quite early to head for the longji rice terraces, we dropped our bags in guillin so we had to live from a day pack for the next 3 days-ish! It took a few hours to drive up to the rice terraces but was a nice drive, amaing scenery the whole way! When we got there we had to walk to our first guesthouse which wasnt easy because it was so humid!! the guesthouse was very nice considering it was kind of the middle of nowhere! We had the afternoon free, so a few of us hiked up to a viewpoint about 1hour away to get some good views of the rice terraces! unfortunatley there wasn't much to do in the eve, but we amused ourselves with a nice dinner and lots of card games!
30/3 - We left the guesthouse in the morning to set off on a 3-4 hour trek to our next guesthouse in another village! it was another nice guesthouse, all though it was a bit cold at night, we all had to pay to get some heating on in the eve! We had another free afternoon which quite a few ppl filled with a massage! But i used the afternoon to hike up about half an hour to some scenic viewpoints, it was a bit misty but the views were still spectacular! after taking about 200 photos of the same rice fields (there wasnt much else to take photos of :p) i headed back to the guesthouse. That night we had a culture show at the guesthouse. Some of the locals performed some traditional chinese songs and dances for us, then we had to perform something for them, which for some reason was the hokey cokey :P Then we took part in a wedding dance and ritual type thing where one of us (jon) was blindfolded and then had to choose a wife (emma), was really fun! and we also did this hopscotchy type thing over these bamboo sticks. After the show we played some more card games, i was taught how to play poker!
31/3 - We got a bus back to guillin, where we just had time to look in some shops and grab some dinner before we got on our last overnight train to hong kong!
