1/4 - Arrived in Hong Kong in the morn and set off to our hotel, a rather swanky hotel in the kowloon district. It was our last night on the trip so most of use prepared to leave, getting visas or new hostels etc, then all met up to go to our last dinner :( we all went out and had a nice big meal then onto a couple of bars for a few drinks and the night market. Then me and Ewan headed out to a pub at about 2am to watch the champions league :P
2/4 - I spent most of the day looking for a new hostel, i eventually found one (just in time) which was rather nice and cheap if i stayed in dorms. Then in the eve we went out for a meal and for a few drinks at the posh bar in the first hostel to say goodbye to some ppl! after which i went to the same pub again at 2am to watch the next champions league games!
3/4 - today we were going to go to the big buddha, but it was a bit too misty, so we went to this place called Aberdeen, this place on hong kong island with a little harbour, just a lot of boats really. We went on a little boat tour of the harbour, after haggling to a "special price", just took us around the boats really, and past this floating restaurant that looked quite nice. We had some lunch in Aberdeen then went on to stanley market. The bus to stanley was a really nice route, there was some nice beaches and the sun had come out! Their wasn't much in the market but there were some nice views there. We all went out for dinner again tonight (the remaining roam china ppl) to a really nice place called satay king, which had lots of pirates in it for some reason? Then went on to a night market to buuy a few final souvenirs!
Im not really sure what happened on what days now as it was a little while ago now, but i can remember what i did. I went to the hong kong museum of art which was pretty cool, a lot of cool chinese art there! And I went to the avenue of stars which is where they have celebrities names and signatures, and sometimes hand prints, in the concrete, I only recognised two names, they were Jackie Chan and i think Bruce Lee :P I went to the big buddha on my last full day which was really good. We had to get a cable car up this little mountain which had some really nice views, and took us to the big buddha, which is exactly that, a big buddha! I actually think it was after this that we went to the satay king :P On my last night in Hong Kong we went clubbing!!! we had to get our drinks from the supermarket and drink them in the hostel room because its so expensive otherwise! how classy! Then we went out to a couple of clubs, which were quite good, but some of them made us buy a drink or leave :( The town was quite full that night because the US Navy were in Hong Kong!
On my last day we went to Victoria peak, which was amazing! the weather was so good, very hot and sunny! We got a ferry over to hong harbour then a bus and taxi up to victoria peak because the que for the tram was so long!! The view from victoria peak was awesome, we could see all of hong kong and the harbour! We then got the tram down which was fun :) after the peak I went to the botanical and zoological gardens, which were basically a big (free) zoo in the middle of Hong Kong island! On my way back from the zoo i got a bit lost because i had to find Krispy Kreme before i left Hong Kong as there fudge donut was the best thing i have ever tasted!! We had a nice dinner that night, our last chinese style meal, which was really fun, missing using chopsticks now :P Then after dinner I left for the airport, which was okay because i still had some company in the form of two thirds of team sweden who were leaving at a similar time :)
somewhere in my time in hong kong i also went to the space museum but im not sure when? it was okay, but would have probly been better if i had more time there!
Then I left Hong Kong for Auckland !
