Day 11, we all slept in a little later this morning. It's very warm again and today we take our first visit to a Sardinian beach, a 10-15 minute drive in our hire car and we are there.
It's a beautiful sandy beach and obviously very popular. This beach is best described as Cornish but with sun!
The reason I say this is the beach has rugged rocks around it and really does have the feel that you may be sunbathing on one of the beautiful Cornish sandy beaches, the water is clean, and turquoise sparkling away in the morning sun. The fact that the heat is around 30 degrees today gives away the fact that no, this is not St. Ives.
Upon arriving at the beach we parked up amongst the many other vehicles and made our way across the dunes to the beach and it's beautiful views.
We decided to opt for 4 sunbeds and 2 umbrellas but soon changed our minds when we were quoted a total of 36€!!! That's around £26 in real money...in the end we stuck with just 50% of our original order.
Millie's suitcase still had not arrived so no swimming for her and Alex stayed on dry land too, shame because the water was warm and great and safe to swim in too. There are many beaches dotted along this coastline in close proximity and usually just off the main road.
The heat was getting to us and we hadn't taken any lunch with us so we decided to drive to the largest town nearby where we found a nice little place which was cheap - although the service was very slow, not that it mattered particularly, it was just that I in particular was practically dying of thirst having spend 10 minutes looking for a cash point that was allegedly a couple of minutes walk away according to the waitress at the cafe we were eating at.
On the way back we stopped for more groceries, at quite not very exciting but necessary all the same.
The afternoon was spent by the pool not that Millie came as the suitcase had still not arrived back with us!
Nice time has by the pool and something rather strange happened whilst we were there. We'd noticed some large speakers be bought in to the pool area but assumed that was for some evening entertainment...as it turned out a couple of what I can only describe as amateur entertainers started dancing in their swim wear to the music coming from the speakers...they soon had the kids involved too, even Mads bless her joined in which was quite brave considering she couldn't understand a word they were saying as it was all spoken in Italian!
Anyway it was all quite a laugh and something a little unusual too.
Dinner was homemade tonight, a mix of Findus pancakes, boiled potatoes and veg, followed by Cart de ore ice cream.
This evening we called the airport yet again about the missing suitcase. It's getting beyond a joke now. The suitcase has been in Sardinia since 11pm last night so thee should be no excuse why it could not have been delivered today. It seems like the courier just couldn't be arsed to bring it until tomorrow so still we wait.
Tonight we relax on the balcony reading and chatting which is lovely , not sure I'll make it to 1am like last night but you never know. So nice to feel chilled and relaxed, I've have rarely given a thought to anything back in the real world and it feels great. Plenty of time for that when we are back on home soil.
