First of all a massive thanks to the Cheers for looking after my car and for the early Xmas day me and the kids had, it was great!!
Well, I woke up like any other day, snoozing the alarm, several times, then checked Facebook and currency rates. All looking ok.
Performed a last minute brainscan to make sue I have everything I need, which I think I have, weighed my bag (again thanks to the Cheers for the bag weighing gizmo) coming in at around 15Kg (limit is 23Kg).
Turned off the water, and all electrics except the fridge. Ready to leave!
Last minute job was to get the travel money, so at 0845 I set off to the bank to get some cash out, then to the Post Office, hmm, not enough NZD there, do tried Thomas Cook, no currency, tried Thompson, none available but very helpfully rang M&S who had loads, thank goodness! So I got the rest if my cash changed.
I noticed the PO rate was 1.83 - rip off, M&S 1.94, big difference, moral is check the rate and don't leave it till the last minute!!!! Ah well all changed now.
On the 1020 National Express to London, which seemed to suffer gearbox problems, after stopping twice and a 10 minute stop shortly after Ukfield I completed the journey to Victoria at 13:40, swapped over to the 14:30 coach to Heathrow arriving there at 15:30.
Waited for check-in until 16:30 then got my bag in and made it unscathed into Departures.
Up to the Servisair lounge for a nice relaxing wait and free Wifi and lots of drinks and snacks :-) all good!!
