Hello we have arrived in Delhi,India. At the airport we were met by a tazi driver who took us to our hotel. The drive from the airport was scary;everyone cutting each other up, no use of lanes, not mentioning the constant use of horns. The streets of delhi arecovered in market stalls selling a variety of foods and other produce but the poverty is very apparent. Street vendors trying to sell and little girls beggingfor money which is sad to see. That evening i had noodles, how adventurous!!
Satursday started with a proposed visit to Connaught place, whether we ever arrived is a mystery, taking a auto-rickshaw(tuk-tuk) they dropped us somewhere and from then on we were bombarded with people offering advice. Eventually we found a man who wasnt after our money just wanted to practice his english, his showed us around a Sikh and Hindu temple. Squeezing 5 people into a tuk-tuk including tracey whom we met at the hotel, was a mistake because the tuk-tuk crashed into the car in front, fortunately we were all ok!! Later that evening we met Ajit, Tom Carol and Pat from our tour, before watching Liverpool and Man U on tv later that evening.
Sunday was the day we visited Old Delhi, travelling by bus was fairly uncomfortable. In old delhi we visited the largest Muslim temple in India and a Sikh mosque. We travelled through old Delhi on the back of bicycles, which was a bit sketchy at first but our driver was a legend! Finally reaching Connaught place for lunch. Arriving back at the hotel we found out that we had to change hotels because of maintanance and also had to pay the man to carry our bags, only about 12p but it is the principle!!
