Sun 16th September
Song of the day; The lion sleeps tonight by the Tokens.
A change in format today - up early to leave by 6.30 am (taking picnic breakfast to eat later) and look out for the 'lazy leopard' as Cornelius explains, because the leopard lies on the branch of a tree to gain height advantage for a better view. Getting up early not such a great idea - see lots of animals but no leopard. Breakfast from beside a tree providing shade with a fantastic view - can't be bettered. Crossed into Kenya in frustration, and wow - there's a cheetah who's just killed a wildebeest and is settling down for a meal, observed by a dozen or so vultures awaiting their turn. 2 other very smart 4x4's arrive too, with folk in proper safari garb, we had to cover our beach style gear! Back to the camp for lunch and a rest before heading out for a sunset safari. Later found a small pride of lions with a coupe of cubs - about 6/7 months old. Great watching them play, and one followed us for a while when we finally drove off. Fantastic watching the sun go down especially when we see a group of elephants on top of the hill with the sun setting behind them. Back for a meal with the new guests Richard and Isabel - we later learnt Richard's name was actually Gareth, but Tracey had had a few glasses of wine so renamed him. Another trip highlight - our waiter Baboo entertained us singing - Jambo
