We went to Chichen Itza on Tuesday and it was absolutely incredible, i mean certain parts had been restored (that's it in the picture above) but it is still an absolute wonder as to how they built something like that with so little technology. It was so busy there, despite the fact that it was only voted a wonder of the world recently, but well worth it. Beforehand we visited an underground pool but with sunlight coming through a hole in the roof where Mayan Prince and Princesses used to bathe. I was one of the first people in the pool so got to enjoy it and take it in before the hoards of jumpers and bombers arrived! It's a shame i can't get the pictures up as that too was incredible. On wednesday we went to the bullfight. The actual bullfight was only a small part of the show, the majoirty invovled traditional mexican dances and shows of horsemanship. As the actual bullfight began, women and children started to leave in their droves. It's a bit of a shock seeing a magnificent rampaging bull reduced to a carcass on the floor in a matter of minutes. The whole 'fight' felt distinctly unfair, but i guess would you rather be treated very well and fight for your life as with this bull, or be brought up in a tiny space and slaughtered for meat at some point? We had a relax yesterday and then headed to a club/show called Cocobongos where they filmed parts of 'The Mask' years ago which was really cool. And here we are today, leaving very early tomorrow morning but really can't wait to get back, we've had an absolutely incredible time and learned and experienced so much. Thanks for reading! I'll put some pictures uip when i get home!
