First an apologie for now writting a blog for quite a long time. Now it is really hard to remember what we have been doing an in what order but hey we will give it a go and give you some idea of all the exciting things we have done.
We spent a few days in surfers paradise. it's not quite what you imagin it will be. it's all high rise and very american looking. the weather was really good and our hostel was infact a 2 bed flat whioch was lovely. only thing was our 2 other house mates were strange!!!!!! but stayed in their room all the time kind of strange. Whilst at Surfers we visited white water world for a day, which we really enjoyed weather was great and so too were the big rides. (put it this way the first ride we went on i think the whole park heard andy's screams)
We only spent 2 nights in brisbane but that was ok. weather was really bad and it pissed down hard. We went to Australia zoo, it was a really long day with crap train services but we had a really good day. we got to stroke a koala and cuddled the kangaroos, we didnt get quite so close to the crocs but saw some really good croc feeding shows.
Noosa - is a lovely little beach resort. we stayed here for a few days. we met some guys from finland and france and spent a few nights playing cards and drinking cheep wine. done a nice bush walk but it was far too hot and had to turn back and go jump in the pool instead.
Hervey bay -is the place we went to catch the ferry over to Frazer island. We hired a 4 wheel drive along with 8 other people and set off on a 3 day adventure on a massive sand island, with no roads just sand and bush, with just enough petrol, food and a map. Andy did most of the driving as others in the group were either under 21 or too scared to drive. But this pleased Andy. We did not even get stuck in the sand and need to dig the jeep out once. We saw wild dingos that we were briefed about at least 3x and were even tought how to be dingo safe and throw a spade at them. we saw lots of really big monitor lizzards and some deadly spiders. Our trusty spade also helped with these!!!! we both really enjoyed our time on the island the lakes were amazing especially lake McKenzie.
After this we set off to a place called Kroombit. It was inland a few hours outside of any civilisation. Here we got to stay on a cattle station. We got to muster goats on horse back. we even had to catch and milk the goats. (we won the competion as we did it the quickest, some of the blokes were even too scared to grab the goats) we did some whip cracking and a bucking bronco. Our accomodation was a horse stable with beds in. so it was a bit scarey. so scarey in fact that some guys we met even slept in the same bed as they were too scared to sleep alone. I (lisa) slept with andy (as he too was a little sacred???????) Unfortunatly the place had loads of bed bugs and Andy got really badly bitten. he also had an alergic reaction to them.
Airlie beach- was where we had booked a day on a speed boat exploring the whitsunday islands. a few days before we got a weather warning to say a possible cyclone was on it's way. THey advised that if it hit land then it would be the biggest one ever recorded to hit OZ. so that was a bit worrying. luckly it went back out to sea and we were able to go on our trip. The whitsundays are lovely but they did not look as i (lisa) had expected. We did some snorkeling on the great barrier reef and saw some coloufull fish. It was stinger season so we had to wear stinger suits which look very attractive. We had lunch on whithaven beach and go to spend some time in the clear waters and gorgous beach (again though we had to wear the fetching stinger suit.
Lastly we ended our oz trip with 4 days in Carins. generally winding down chilling at the pool and lagoon and eating chinese buffet.
It seams such a long time ago when we arrived in Sydney yet our time here has gone so quickly, we are sad to leave Oz but looking forward to NZ.
Love to you all
Andy and Lisa
