We arrived in Las Vegas by plane. Due to some bad planning we had very little time, only two full days in total. Our first day we walked to the Strip where all the casionos and hotels are. The Strip is really long and there is a bus that runs up and down which you need to get because it is too far to walk. Each hotel is like a mini resort and often include casinos, shops, wedding chapels, resturants and stage shows. We went to one called the Strastopshere. We got a great deal for 25 pounds each which included a ticket for the show "American Superstars", all you can eat buffet, two free drinks and a ticket to the top of the stratosphere tower. This gave a great view of Las Vegas but what makes it different to other aeirel views of other cities is that there are three rides at the top of it. They are hard to describe but there is a spinning ride which extends out on a mechanical arm so it dangles above the city, a rollerecoster see-saw which shoots you off the side of the tower, again dangling above the city - this is a really scary ride! There was also one that shoots you up but no dnagling involved!
The American Superstars show had 5 tribute acts, Michael Jackson, Elvis, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Tim Mcgraw. It was a really good show and very entertaining. I (Andy) took my leicester chirt along with me ready for photos at the end with them.
We had a daytrip to the Grand Canyon, wich took a couple of hours to get there with an early start, we visited the west rim of the canyon, it was an amazing experience. The first viewing point was Eagle Point, they had the sky walk, which is a big glass walkway which goes out over the canyon. Your not allowed to take anything onto the glass walkway including cameras, but they take your photo for you and you can pay 11 pounds for the privillage!! Also there was the native indians, who showed us traditional dancing and there homes, I(Andy) joined in the friendship dance with them. The second view point was Gyato Bay which had more great views. Then we went to the ranch which had a cowboy setting, they did a roleplay shooting and also0 we got to do horseback riding for free!!!! right next to the Canyon which was amazing. On the way back we stopped at the Hoover Dam which looks great, very tight secruity as if it was blown up there would be alot of damage!!!!
We tried the casinos out, we mainly stayed at the Stratosphere casino, I(Andy) mkind of knew what i was doi8ng as have been to a casino before but I(Grace) didnt have much clue. but amazingly I(Grace) won 60 pounds!!! not bad for a begginner. we stuck to blackjack and roullette and ther regulars were not too impressed if you didint know the rules too well and took your money off the table too early or things like that.
We shared our dorm with 2 Chinese girls, (we thought the Korean girl in New York was bad) they had an obsession with putting the heating on in the room even though it was in the high 20;s outside!! we would fall asleep and they would put the heating on and we would wake up in a waterbed!!!! because we sweated so much, we would then put it on cold and they would then put it back on hot, it was an ongoing battle!!!, we tried to make conversation with them but they were having none of it.
the blogs and photos should be coming on here more regularly now
