After another early start we headed to arrived in the small town of Kampong Cham. After checking into our hotel and having lunch at a 'local restaurant' we hired bikes to explore a nearby island. After navigating the traffic, we arrived at the ferry point. Instead of catching a large boat we all got on a small wooden raft, which transported us to and from the mainland to the island! Even though the raft was extremely small, we managed to squeeze on alongside the locals and their mopeds!
Arriving at the island, we rode through the village and were greeted by the local children who ran out of their houses to shout hello and give us a high fives!! Which was nearly enough to make Andy fall off his bike!! We then rode to the school where we treated like celebrities, as all the children ran out of their lessons to see us! After giving them the pencils and toiletries that we had brought, they tried to practice their english on us. Their favourite question was "Are you married?!"
We then carried on through the village to look at the paddy fields,it was really great to get a real taste of local Cambodian life.
As a group we spent the evening having dinner and drinks on the waterfront.
