Today was our last day in New York, and I had a blast. We got to see The Statue of Liberty and a lot of other historical places in New York. We bussed down to Battery Park. From there we took the Ferry (First Time on a Boat, Check!) In the boat you could get an excellent view of the statue. I got some really amazing photos of the island as well. We also rode down to Ellis Island which had a lot of cool immigrant information. I had done an historical fiction short story on Ellis Island and it was cool to see where all of that research came from. We took the ferry back and went to see the Bull and other structures around Wall Street such as The Federal Hall. The Federal Hall was where George Washington took his oath into office his first term. We ate lunch at this world cafe with some un-unique dishes, but was actually really good. Next to that was the World Trade Center where we went to the 9-11 Memorial. There were a lot of similarities between there and the Bombing Memorial in Oklahoma City. There was water, black stones, and they even had a survival tree. In the area of the Memorial was the museum. From the surface the museum was the size of the restaurant, but it extended underground to form a huge complex. I was only three months old when it happened, but my mom told me a lot about 9-11 throughout my youth. But I learned a lot about what info was received before the Attack and what happened at the Pentagon when they got hit. After the museum we took the subway to where we had supper. I got on quickly because I didn't want to get left behind like I did in Dallas. We ate at a nice barbecue place (at least it was not sandwiches or pizza). We walked back through Times Square and did some last minute shopping for souvenirs. Throughout the entire trip I have been looking for this scale model Empire State building and no shop had the one I was looking for. I gave up on that and I just decided to enjoy myself at the actual Empire State Building itself. We had to wait in this long line to get to the top. But it was so worth it. I took some pictures of the New York skyline. We got to point out a few places we went and those we didn't. (Hint, hint, Flatiron Building(Wow I am such an Architecture Nerd(Did I seriously just put a parentheses in a parentheses?(PARENTHESISECPTION)))). We took a shortcut down through the gift shop to get to the elevator, and then I saw the souvenir I had been looking for all along! But my chaperone would not let anybody shop. Overall it was still a good day, and tomorrow we are heading to Philadelphia!
