"It doesn't get that cold in Van" - Elise
So it's four thirt in the morning and I havn't slept yet, don't worry though it's part of my strategy. Taxi rocks up and I'm at the airport in plenty of time. First flight just to Sydney and thanks to my lack of shut eye I'm asleep before we even take of. Means I missed what was no doubt and amazing brekky (ppffttt) but wake up as we're getting close to landing. That's easy enough. Not feeling to awake I made my way on to the next plane and towards LA. Nap time! After a quick feed it's back to sleep to kill some of the 13 odd hours left. Touching down at LAX I'm starting to feel rested. I made my way through this massive airport and then to the lounge and kill time before the last 3 hour leg to Van. I didn't realise but I must have been tired. I slept that leg to. Still turns out all nighter was the way to go. Slept most of that transit.
Once I landed I was like a ninja at the airport. Making it off the plane and though, immigration, customs and baggage pick up in 15mins! I got outside messaged Elise (whose house I'm at) and she hadn't got to the airport yet after thinking it would take me much longer. I arrived to weather you might not believe. It was like a spring Perth day! Sunny no clouds and about 25 degrees. It's pretty much been like that since which has given us a real chance to see the city.
I've been hiking at Deep Cove, swimming and cliff jumping (yes that's not a typo) at Lynn canyon, seen down town, west sea wall and a couple of nights out at Elise's cabin on the waters edge at Sechelt. I know I went swimming but the water was damn freezing. They even have warning signs as to how cold it is. Cliff jumping was about the only thing I would get in for. The cabin was really amazing. Literally 5 meters from the ocean and loaded with toys. At night a great view too, over to Vancouver Island.
So as it turns out its not that cold in Van. I've been wearing shorts and tees. Unbelievable I know but Elise and her housemate Ben assure me this is the best Van has got all summer. So other than the mountains it's like home. I even found a pub with the AFL, little creatures and heaps of West Coast fans. What a win :).

Nan & Grandad Glad to hear you arrived safely. Not too much of the risk taking. No accidents!!!! Sounds like the weather is great, much like home at the moment, going to be 26-28 today. Heard from Mum and Dad, they seem to be enjoying themselves. Have fun, but stay safe. Look forward to more reports.
