Today we decided to head over to Hong Kong Island, the busy built up CBD. We got the Star Ferry from Kowloon which is where we are staying to the Island for about 20p. It was good fun but bloody hot and bloody wet, a bit of a theme in Asia in August! Trying to find our way round was a nightmare and a few heated words were exchanged but we survuved the morning, found an awesome sandwhich shop and stuffed ourselves silly. Jumped into an English pub to escape the rain and then embarked on a voyage up what must be the longest escaltor in the world.
We finally got to the top, turned to look at the view and couldn't see anything, ovecast, boiling hot and raining. We decided to head back towards the ferry via the Zooilogical and Botanical Gardens which were nice but by that time I'd lost have my body weight into my ever transparent T shirt and wanted to head back to the Hotel. As we decided to leave we were caught in a down pour and hid under a bridge! What a day!
That evening we decided to get some food at a Peking Restaurant which was back in Kowloon. We watched the Symphony of Lights again and then off to sample the best Peking Duck in town! It was pretty good actually but I think we overstayed our welcome and were kind of shoved out the door as soon as we'd finished.
After the meal we headed on to a Market, which we had read was full of crazy people seeling you EVERYTTHING. It ended up being a little soggy but still full of crazy people and so much Tacky crap. Cate spent a fortune and I bought Mum a "Genuine fake" watch.
