By the time we had left Hans Brinker it was already after midday. We grabbed a complete English breakfast at this place 2 days in a row. We headed into town where we observed the tram and bike network, which to anyone who has been here is amazing, to say the least. 60% of locals own a bike and ride it daily. That will never happen in Melbourne, as the road design combined with the flat land make it ideal and easy to do for everyone.
We wandered the streets like a typical tourist, map in hand (and by hand I mean face. Surely they can design smaller maps or something). We passed many coffee shops (being a place where marijuana was often sold and smoked legally and baked into food too). I was amazed to find out that a higher percentage of the population smoke marijuana in America and Britain than in Netherlands where it is legalized (fact of the day!).
We looked at a few churches, monuments and had a coffee and a beer inside a random cafe. True holiday mode, didn't plan much, didn't achieve much, didn't travel far, enjoyed it more than anything. Lol
I dangerously bought a heineken (only comes in pints) at the hostel bar, of course not realizing it was happy hour, which means 2 for 1 and Marcus doesn't drink beer. Oh, what a shame, 2 for me.
Anyway, we went to the Amsterdam theatre for dinner, which was a really nice restaurant attached to the theatre. We had enquired about a show, but all shows were in Dutch, which wasn't our fancy, obviously nor our language of choice. The food was amazing, although pricey, it was definitely worth it. Duck followed by brûlée, and we headed back to the hostel to plan the morning tour.
The photo is the fold up bikes that they take onto trains and trams. Beats our bikes taking up so much room on a train.
