The first thing we noticed on the drive in was Enzo's awesome bus driving abilities through the chaotic streets. We learnt very quickly how to cross a road, not usually so difficult at home. Just walk and hope for the best, the cars and scooters normally see you (at least so you hope). We did a night walking tour of Rome.
Again, Steve is not allowed to be our tour guide, so he is a good friend who is walking us to our hotel?! I'm not sure if it sounds believable with 50 tourists from 6 different countries following you. Anyway, we saw Trevi fountain, Victor Emmanuel Monument, and the Colosseum. All amazing, this was on our way to dinner. We had quite a creepy old guy singing to us, and even though his voice was quite nice, the lack of height, missing teeth and seedy smile he would pull was very disturbing. Dinner this time was plenty of pizza, and it was good. Not amazing, but good. But don't worry, I did get some pizza the next night that was awesome, so I don't need to worry haha.
After dinner we headed back to the accommodation for some quiet drinks at the bar next door, Moe's pub (and not it did not remind me of Moe's tavern and no the bartender did not remind me of Moe either). I need your help to fill in the logic here:
1) 50 tourists walk into a small bar and there is no one else there
2) before the bartender (let's name him Moe anyway) serves the first drink, Moe calls some people (who knows who).
3) even though Roma is playing in the soccer and everyone should be at home watching it, suddenly the pub has 4 bartenders and about 15 Italian locals walk into the bar.
Can anyone explain the logic on how this happened?
These Italian men were quite nice, especially when the night ends with me "looking after" Analise and Laura by not walking them back to our hotel, but instead getting into a car with two Italian guys we had been talking to and going to get burgers. I guess the main thing is we got home safely, eventually. Oh and the burger was pretty damn good.
