Hello, all...my last blog didn't update...so here THIS is
Hope all is well.
Right-o, don't really know where to start with the good ol' blog this week. It's been a budy one but really good one.
This weekend we went to Siem Riep and saw the Temples of Angkor, which were absolutely stunning. It was admittedly as touristy as everyone said but we saw some really cool things. We saw the iconic Angkor Thom (tree temple) which many may recognize from the Lara Croft films. It was a temple covered in tress breaking through the walls etc. Another brilliant temple was 'The Temple of Faces' where there was lots of different faces carved into big tall towers…pretty epic. We took a two day tour there and because there was so many of us in our group we decided to go in the back of a pick up truck (which was most enjoyable). On the first day we saw the sunset from the top of one temple and on the second day we saw the iconic sunrise of Angkor Wat…definitely worth the hype.
We spent three days in Siem Riep intotal and they were brilliant. We got blessed several times by monks and nuns from different temples and thus we now have a lot of luck and bracelets!
This week at work has been very productive and very masculine! Haha. Me and one of the other volunteers have been doing the garden in the orphanage and we've been digging, hoeing, sawing, painting and I even got to use an axe! Feeling pretty damn pleased with myself.
It's sad to think we've only got one week left at the orphanage. We still have quite a lot to sort out but hopefully it will all work out nicely.
Tomorrow, we're off to a place called Kep and Rabbit Island. We'll hopefully be doing some trekking and cycling and if not I can always read my book (which is set in Oxford, so makes me miss home a little bit).
In other news, REALLY excited about Thailand :P
Righto, hope everyone is well.
SEE YOU SOOOOON.
Andrew

OKAY NOW THE NEXT ONE.....
Hello, all...Currently in Thainland in a beautifulll little town called Pai, which means we've now finished our time teaching in Cambodia...
the last week was really good, a little bit intense BUT we spent our last weekend on an island called Rabbit Island in Kep which was brilliant...nothing to do except read, swim and relax...brilliant!
We had to cram in LOTS of little jobs into our last week in the orphanage...which meant- more chopping, sawing, axeing and painting! On the last day, we got all the kids to put their hand-prints on a blank wall on the side of the building which was a lot of fun. When we left some of the younger girls gave us a little book of messages each, which made the three girls cry!
The day before we left we had to stay an extra hour and a half at the orphanage because it was RAINIG HARD! But we got to play with the kids in the pouring rain and it was a lot of fun :) We're all going to miss it greatly.
I'm about to go on a tour of the town (Pai), we're going to do waterfalls and an old Chinease village...tommorrow I'm going back to Chiang Mai...going to do an elephant ride before we go on to the islands...really looking forward to this last week...but also looking forward to coming home now it's a bit closer....
HAVE TO GO...UPDATE THIS SOON
TAKE CARE ALL
:)
