Part Two of Anaheim....
Day Four
Today we spent the morning by the pool and afternoon at Disneyland. We were out at the pool at 10.00, me with no block on...by 11.00 my legs had burnt. No, I haven't learnt my lesson, I didn't think you could get burnt at 10.00 in the morning. Thankfully I made the boys put block on before they go into the water. They had a lot of fun swimming, sunbathing and soaking in the hot tub... (which is very hot.) We went to lunch at Ihop. We had been told to go there for the pancakes. I think we left more on our plates than we ate. The portion sizes were ridiculously huge and although we hated leaving food on the plates, because the pancakes were delicious,...the meals were just too big. We went to Disneyland and did the monorail and boat ride together, then we split up. George and I went to Fantasyland while Mike, Jack and Ben went to ride all the roller coasters.
Day Five
Today was our trip to Universal Studios. We got picked up at 7.45 and didn't get there until 11.00. The boys were already tired and it was very hot. We experienced the same problems there as we did at the other theme parks. Jack and Ben wanted to go on Roller Coasters (with the usual 40 minute wait) George just wanted to wander around and look. We got some good photos of George and went on the universal tour which is a must. The King Kong 3D section was better than the movie!! We got home and packed, ready to leave for NY. We have increased our luggage so far by one very big hockey bag!!
Day Six
Left for New York. Boarding for the flight was quite an experience. We thought that an internal flight would have less security but it was quite the opposite. (Which makes sense when you think of 9/11) We all had to remove our shoes and Jackets (including George) and I lost a tube of sunscreen. The checking is all done very seriously, no smiles or conversation. So serious I started to get very nervous. One of the Stewards on the flight made friends with George. he gave all the boys a set of plastic wings. George gave him one of the NZ pins we took with us. When we went to disembark the plane there was a special welcome to the family from NZ, especially George.
