Thailand Trek:
Day 1 - Bangkok
Day 2 - Caught overnight train to Chiang Mai and checked into guest house.
Day 3 - Truck to Waterfall at Mok Fa - trek to Ban-Mae-Jog (Translated as Karen!), where there are only 30 houses and no electric, stayed overnight in a large hut altogether.
Day 4 - Trek after breakfast for 4 hours (this is the one where I thought that I might die of exhaustion) to elephant camp at Huey-Nam-Dang. After riding the elephant a short walk to Pa-Kao-Lam which is a bigger village than Karen, and has a school which all the children from surronding villages attend and board during the week. The state pays for thier education but the families provide rice. For both villages bathing is done in the Mae-Tang river, and the "happy rooms" are squat toilets. There is limited electicity powered by Solar panels provided by the state.
Day 5 - After breakfast, (The best day) bamboo rafting to Sob-Kai village where we had lunch and then got the truck back to the Chiang Mai Guest House where we dropped of very dirty laundry to be collected before we left the next day. Next stop was a very long shower.
Day 6 - Left guest house for the station late afternoon caught the overnight train back to Bangkok arriving at 6.00
Knackered .......... Got back to Bangkok this morning at 6.00. Overnight train not a great experience - was not as good as the train taking us up to Chiang Mai.
Very tired, as not a lot of sleep overnight.
