Been getting out and about in Sydney, train stuff much better now, training from a very young age on the London Underground helps. Been to Hyde Park Barracks yesterday (which was built by the convicts around 1820) and spent about 3 hours in there, this overlaped with the story of Port Arthur and I learnt more there than I did when I visited it, although that was probably because I didn't have enough time there to see everything that I wanted to. I have tried out the ferries over the last couple of days, what a great way to get around especially if you are not in any hurry, and a little more successful than the ferry in Bangkok - at least I've ended up where I thought I was going to! Done a lot of walking today around the harbour and botanical gardens, and been on a ferry to Watson Bay and feet are a bit sore. So I'm back now at my usual internet cafe, which is always busy they must do a good trade. Evenings are the time that I find difficult as a single female traveller, it is not easy to sit in a bar alone and have a drink, or eat sometimes and can be uncomfortable. So I tend to try to read ( I always have a book with me) if there is enough light - see earlier blog re: eyesight!!! - or live off takeaways and spend early evenings in this internet place, updateing this site and booking stuff etc. Then back to the digs at Kings Cross (described at "a colourful area of Sydney" leave that to your imagination) and read. It's ok but does get a bit samey. It's one of the reasons that I am looking forward to being back at home. I am enjoying Sydney but I would not want to live here. Definately decided that I will not be going to Ayres Rock will cost far to much so will be staying in and around this area.
