4.30am alarm this morning! After just 4 hours sleep i felt tired to say the least. But what we had got up to see should so be worth it! Our tuk tuk driver was ready and waiting at 5am. There was so many tuk tuks en route to the temples, everyone heading to get that money maker shot. 5.30am arrival and it was already packed! We couldnt get by the river as it was already about 4 rows deep. Kitted out with our takeaway breakfast we sat and watched the sunrise rise above Angkor Wat...it really was worth getting up for. It was stunning, it makes angkor wat look even more special. Our hotel was great giving us a breakfast. Going early it was so much cooler making it easier to walk round. We were able to go inside the temples as we were appropriately dressed and im so gladwe got to go in as the carvings on the wall are so amazing. The way they have stayed preserved is amazing. They are so intricate with so much detail. We did the small route around Angkor Thom so we saw all the main ones. The Royal Palace was huge andsort of reminded me of downton abbey...which im really missing by the way. The Bayon was amazing, giant pillars with faces that all look like they are smiling down on you. Terrace of elephants is also worth a visit. Ta Prohm is a wonder the trees growing through the stone and on top of them, just like nature is trying to take over. This is also where part of tomb raiser was filmed, oh yeh! I loved the fact we still had the day to do something, plus for getting up early. Chill time by the pool! Meant to be headibg to phnom penh tomorrow but just dont want to leave Gloria so another night it is, they've even thrown in a free massage so i think that justifies it! Im really enjoying Cambodia, the people are so friendly and theres so much to see.
