Hey all!! Haven't managed to write anything on here yet so we thought we would make a start...Well I'm (Amy) typing!
We've now been in Australia for 10 weeks and 2 days! Feels like last week when we arrived!
Were having a brilliant time and have made loads of new friends. Our main group is, Me, Matt, Vicky, Kirsty, Emily, Amy, Michelle, Sky, Siggy, James, Gary, Luke and Sam.
We share a room with two lads called Gary and Luke who are best mates from Bath..they sound like farmers!
We used to share a room with Siggy but she moved out and also Sam stayed with us for a week before Luke arrived.
I've managed to take over the role of mum cleaning etc! Ha quite funny considering at home I didn't have a clue! Matt is the chef apart from when he works until 8pm I cook. We go food shopping every Sunday as well!! For the first 5 weeks we ate takeaways!
Matt's working at a hairdressers called Hair and Beauty. He works Wed-Fri 10am to 8pm. He gets paid cash in hand and doesn't pay tax which is good! All his work are really cool and we've been round his Boss' house before for drinks. When we first arrived Matt was working for a company called Just Cuts..tack on tack. He left as he had to work Saturday's and some Sunday's so found a job with no weekend work!
I work for the Government at a Solicitors firm doing basically what I did at home but a different type of law. It's really good and I get on with everyone really well. They love the english there as well :) They always try do my accent..I'm like I don't have an accent! haha.
Our week normal consists of us working then going out at the weekend..so basically what we did at home apart from it's boiling! We usually go to the beach most weekends. Great cure for a hangover is the sea!
We have done the Sydney Tower which is a 1000ft high building, tallest in Sydney, and you walk around the top of it and are attached to the building. You walk on a glass floor. It was really good, Matt was scared! We are doing all the other "tourist" things when Katie and everyone arrives.
It will be 3 weeks on Sunday then they arrive! We are really excited! Between 2 rooms were somehow going to manage to fit them all in as they have no beds for about 3 nights! As no hostels take bookings between the 23rd and 2nd Jan. So that should be fun!
I break up from work on the 24th Dec and go back on the 5th Jan for 2 weeks then have 2 weeks off to spend with Katie and crew. Matt has the whole of January off. I was going to but I don't want to lose my job as the credit crunch is getting bad here as well! Not as bad as England by the sounds of it...no-one can't believe Woolworths are closing!! There's Woolworths here but it's a supermarket!
We leave Sydney on the 6th April to head up the East Coast and were going to meet up with the girls..when I say the girls I mean Vicky, Kirsty, Amy, Michelle and Emily. There all from Halifax. Were going to meet up with them when we are all home. We are also going Thailand with them on/around 8th August for a month then we'll go to Hong Kong for maybe 2 nights then come home. So we will be home around the 14th September. Just before Matt's birthday!
Well will try and remember to write soon about what we've been up to!
